KAPPA MAN OF THE MONTH!

BROTHER MONTELL JORDAN
What does Kappa mean to you? Kappa Alpha Psi has provided me with the true definition of brotherhood for the last 19 years. "An association of men with a common interest, creed and spirit." Kappa has allowed me to experience marriage, fatherhood, joy and pain, life and death with men who are committed to Achievement. To this very day, Beta Omega Chapter is dear to my heart.

Why did you join Kappa?
I was a student on Pepperdine University's Malibu campus in 1986. I saw two of the most hardworking black men on this predominantly white campus and they embraced me. They, thru Kappa, became our social outlet for student activities thru parties and step shows and became our conscience for community service projects and black student union growth and activities.

What Founder are you most alike?
I'm certain most brothers will say they admire and have characteristics of the Dreamer, Elder Watson Diggs. I must say that despite the tragedy, I am a pretty boy like Paul W. Caine as well. (and a lot taller)

What is your best memory of Kappa?
I was the Dean of BQ Chapter's Fall 91'. Those 4 young men became like sons to me, and to this very day I feel like the day they entered the bond I watched young college boys become men. Also two years later 2 of my family members would become my brothersas well. Also the UCLA all-frat step team we put together was pretty hot, and a memorable moment. This question seems unfair as 19 years in the bond has provided me with countless memories.

What is your funniest Memory of Kappa?
"The Phone Book Dance." That's all I have to say about that.

What is the music industry like? And how has being a Kappaman affected your career?
The music industry has been filled with great experiences for me. It has really been a wild ride, as the music business IS a business. Being a Kappaman has allowed me to have brothers all over the world, and to have alliances wherever music has taken me throughout the years. I have found Brothers almost everywhere I have traveled.

What is your motto for your life?
My life and family motto is "Work hard so you can play hard."
